The Carlow women's basketball program has increased its win total in each of the past three seasons, and is coming off a standout 2015-16 campaign. The Celtics earned a berth to the USCAA National Championship Tournament for the first time in five years. They also finished in the top eight teams in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC), after beginning the season ranked 13th, to qualify for the KIAC playoffs. With the addition of a talented 2016-17 recruiting class, the Celtics are looking forward to building on that success.

The Celtics play their home games at Oakland Catholic High School. Carlow competes in at least 24 contests per season as a member of the River States Conference (RSC) in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and as an Independent in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
