Draft/Work-in- Progress:
July 2012- present

Spring 2012 sabbatical project:Conducted research on Catholic higher education in the United States from the early part of the 20th century to the 1980's to serve as a backdrop for the life of Sr. Jane Scully, RSM, President of Mt. Mercy/Carlow from 1967 -1982. Also interviewed Sr. Jane (now 94 years of age) from Summer, 2010 through January, 2012 to collect her stories and reflections - both personal and professional.

The work (currently being edited) is still a work-in-progress and includes a brief history of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, and some research on leadership theory.  Sr. Jane's leadership style is reflective of servant leadership and this concept will hopefully be expounded on as the work continues.  Each "chapter" of the work also includes Sr. Jane's personal stories (on her family, her vocation, her professional roles), college trivia on curriculum, enrollment, and administration. The chapters are broken down chronologically by decade. A total of 55 sources were used in the preliminary draft and 30 interviews conducted.
