Title:  Program Coordinator of the Carlow University BSN Program at Saint Vincent College

Program Coordinator and Faculty Member for the Carlow University Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BSN) to be located at the Saint Vincent College site.

Carlow University is seeking a Program Coordinator and Faculty Member for an exciting new opportunity to lead and teach at our Saint Vincent College site.  Responsibilities will include program coordination, teaching, advising students; maintaining professional/clinical practice and scholarship agenda; and participating in Carlow University and Department of Nursing committees.  The BSN Coordinator will report to the BSN Program Director on the Carlow University Campus site. The position is part-time for academic year 2018-2019, with the opportunity to move to a full-time position for academic year 2019 -2020.   Rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

This program coordinator is part-time position beginning in August 2018. The coordinator will be a Carlow University employee primarily based at Saint Vincent College.

The program coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty and staff of both Saint Vincent College and Carlow University to create an environment where innovation is encouraged and programs are continuously assessed to provide optimal student learning and to prepare career-ready ethical leaders. As a group, these leaders will work with the Deans and Program Directors to implement and fulfill the vision, mission, and strategic plan of Carlow University. The program coordinator will report to the BSN Program Director at Carlow University.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

Acts as a liaison between Carlow University and Saint Vincent College to ensure that the BSN program at Saint Vincent College is in synchrony with Carlow University standards.

Provides leadership for faculty in the department to increase effectiveness in teaching excellence, service and leadership,  scholarship and performs faculty evaluation.

Recruits, hires and orients adjunct clinical faculty

Ensures orientation and mentoring of new faculty to support advancement and retention.

Communicates the priorities and works to align departmental goals and initiatives with these priorities. 

Provides direction, often with other chairs or deans, for development and implementation of new curricula, programs, partnerships and/or modes of delivery that address areas of need.

Interacts and openly communicates with dean, program director, faculty, and appropriate university offices of both Carlow University and Saint Vincent College as well as the program's students.

Promotes a culture of assessment and improvement, supports and assists in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Provides direction and support for curriculum development and implementation including review of course syllabi for appropriate rigor, level and alignment.

Ensures effective advising and communication with all students regarding curriculum, academic initiatives, connections to communities of practice, and other matters as needed.

Assists in the recruitment and retention of students.

Works with admissions to review transcripts and qualifications for admissions. Answers and fields inquiry emails related to program questions. Provides online consultations with potential applicants and as well individual student consultations on campus to discuss the program and expectations. Continuously monitors students' progress towards full admission status.

Participates in recruiting events with admissions and provides group information sessions to review transcripts, complete admission applications, register students and highlight the program opportunities.

Works integrally with admissions staff related to overall aspects of the admission process through frequent meetings.

Works with appropriate accrediting agencies to maintain approval of all accredited programs.

Coordinates with the BSN Program Director the students scheduled course offerings and submits to the registrar's office.

Assists with faculty and staff personnel issues in accordance with established policies of Carlow University and Saint Vincent College and with attention to due process and fairness. 

Represents the department to others outside of the university.

Obtain and review signed health and other clinical requirement forms and clearances attached to class list to assure that student health files are complete and accurate prior to beginning of semester and periodically throughout.

Work with administrative support personnel to obtain Typhon access for the students beginning July 1 of each fiscal year.

Serve as the hospital account manager for all major health systems to obtain and maintain yearly computer log-on system for enrolling and returning second degree BSN students. Duties include, but not limited to: account requests, reactivation of accounts, investigation and resolution of account alerts and termination of accounts.

All other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements:

Earned doctorate in nursing or related field strongly preferred

Master's degree in nursing required

Recent Clinical Experience required

Academic teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred
