Fachetti, Celtics put away Alfred State

The Carlow women’s basketball team put away Alfred State, 64-57, on the road in a USCAA DI matchup on Friday, Dec. 8.

The Celtics (2-5/0-3/2-1) were led by Theresa Fachetti (JR/Harbor Creek, Pa.), who posted 20 points and four rebounds. Emma Stille (SO/Columbus, Ohio) grabbed 17 rebounds with nine points, two assists, two steals and a block.

Ashlyn Jonczak (FR/Natrona Heights, Pa.) added 13 points for the first double-digit night of her career, and Kayla Brownlee (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) tossed a team-high five assists.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, leading to a 34-31 Carlow lead at halftime. The Celtics took control in the third quarter, when they outscored the Pioneers, 18-12.

The Pioneers out-rebounded Carlow, 46-43, but the Celtics took better care of the ball. Carlow had 13 turnovers to Alfred State’s 19.

Catherine Bialecki paced Alfred State with 17 points, and Rayanna Anderson had 12 assists. Janae Gibson had nine rebounds for the Pioneers (2-7).

Carlow next plays Dec. 29, at Tiffin University.
