Carlow men's basketball player Charlie Scharbo was named to the River States Conference Men’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, released Oct. 18 by the conference office.

Scharbo, a senior from Jefferson Hills, Pa., was named to the All-Conference Men's Basketball Second Team after an outstanding junior campaign in 2016-17.

Scharbo was the first Carlow men’s basketball player in the program’s history to earn all-conference recognition.

He averaged 17.04 points, 8.31 rebounds and 1.35 blocks per game, and shot 52.8 percent from the field — all team highs. His field goal percentage was ranked third in the RSC. He also averaged 2.42 assists and 1.38 steals per game, and posted eight double doubles.

Scharbo has scored 1,020 career-points, becoming the first Carlow men’s basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone.

He scored his 1,000th point and posted career-highs of 32 points and 20 rebounds as he led the Celtics to a 75-74 overtime victory against Point Park on Feb. 7, 2017.
