Flory leads Celtics past WAU

The Carlow women’s soccer team went on the road and shut out USCAA foe Washington Adventist University, 6-0, on Monday, Oct. 16.

Rachel Flory (SO/Huntington Beach, Calif.) led five players who scored for the Celtics (6-5-2/1-3-2/4-0). Flory netted two goals, and Erin Werme (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.), Malak Shuman (SO/Monroeville, Pa.), Alexa Mermigas (SR/Wexford, Pa.), and Paige Schindehette (FR/Bethel Park, Pa.) each scored one.

Schindehette also played the final 24 minutes in goal, making one save. Carlow starting goalkeeper Lexie Mirenda (SR/Altoona, Pa.) made two saves.

Mermigas, Franki Berarducci (JR/West Newton, Pa.) and Emily Emge (Beaver Falls, Pa.) each assisted on one goal.

The Celtics outshot the Shock, 48-8, and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Carlow put 31 shots on goal and Laura Perez made 25 saves for WAU.

The Celtics next host Rio Grande in a River States Conference matchup Friday, Oct. 20, at 11am.
