The Carlow men’s soccer team played a strong match in its River States Conference opener at Cincinnati Christian, but fell, 4-0, on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Keaton Radecki scored in the 9th minute, assisted by Tyler Klein, but the Celtics' defense tightened up and Carlow trailed just 1-0 at halftime.

Jonathan Tukala scored the Eagles’ second goal, unassisted, in the 56th minute. Carlow remained competitive, but CCU finally pulled away late in the contest, with goals by Montel McKenzie and Tanner Richter, who was assisted by Shaun Saul.

Zack Taylor (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) made 13 saves in his first performance moving from defender to goalkeeper for Carlow. CCU goalkeeper Bryan McDowell earned the shutout and made five saves.

The Celtics (0-7-1/0-1/0-1-1) next play at Asbury (Ky.) University, at 5pm Saturday.
