Kristin Seamon -

The Carlow women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Monday, Sept. 11, dropping a 1-0 decision to NCAA DII Lake Erie (Ohio) College.

Ashley Pryce scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal in the ninth minute, with a header on a cross from Brett Pauff in the box.

Lexie Mirenda (SR/Altoona, Pa.) faced 17 shots and made five saves, but took the loss in goal for the Celtics (2-1/0-0/2-0).

Carlow earned three corner kicks to the Storm's one, and took four shots on goal — two by Malak Shuman (SO/Monroeville, Pa.) and two by Emily Emge (SR/Beaver Falls, Pa.) — but could not connect.

Lake Erie goalkeeper Marissa Brannon faced nine shots and made four saves in the shutout victory.

Carlow next hosts University of Pikeville at 5pm Sept. 15, at Highmark Stadium.
