The Carlow women’s basketball team could not stick with No.
21 Indiana University East down the stretch, dropping a home River States Conference
contest, 69-51, on Saturday afternoon.
The Celtics (8-14/1-12) fell behind, 14-3, in the first
quarter, but fought back to tie the game twice, at 33 and 35, in the third
quarter. IU East (22-5/12-1) stretched its lead back to 46-37 to end the third
quarter, and then pulled away in the fourth.
Carlow forward Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) posted her
second straight double double, her eighth of the season. She had 17 points and
15 rebounds the previous night in an upset win, 64-61, against Ohio Christian.
Against the Red Wolves, she finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Alexis Yanief (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 11 points and
Noelle Vallimont (JR/Erie, Pa.) had eight rebounds for the Celtics.
For the Red Wolves, Kristen Miller had 19 points and four
assists. Mackenzie Campbell scored 17 points and Tia King had 15 points and
nine rebounds. Bailey Dreiman added eight rebounds and five assists.
The Celtics host Point Park University in the
annual Pink the Pavilion game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
