The Lourdes women’s basketball team used a big third quarter to propel itself past Carlow, 80-65, on Tuesday, December 20, in Sylvania, Ohio.

The Celtics (5-5/0-3) led 24-18 after the first quarter and 42-38 at halftime, but the Gray Wolves stepped up the defensive pressure and outscored Carlow, 16-5, in the third quarter to take the lead in the non-conference NAIA matchup. Their 15-point margin of victory was the most for either team in a matchup that saw six lead changes and eight ties.

Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) posted a double-double with 18 points and her career-best 19 rebounds for Carlow. Alexis Yanief (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) contributed 14 points, seven assists and three blocks. Reanna Turner (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 17 points.

The Gray Wolves (5-11), of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, had four players who scored in double figures, led by Jesse Fidler, with 18 points. Kalena Harris added 15, Daja Whiteside 13, and Payton Ramsey 10.

The Celtics return to action and to River States Conference play January 3, at Indiana University Kokomo.
