Rio Grande edges Celtics in RSC battle

The Carlow women’s basketball team came up short, 65-58, against the University of Rio Grande on Saturday, December 3, at Oakland Catholic High School.

The RedStorm (5-5/1-1) took an early lead and extended it to as many as 14 points. The Celtics (4-2/0-2) continually closed the gap to as few as three points, but could never quite catch up.

Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) led Carlow with 13 points and nine rebounds. Noelle Vallimont (JR/Erie, Pa.) added 12 points. Kayla Brownlee (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) dished eight assists and Leah Goodwin (SO/Cincinnati, Ohio) made three steals.

Jaida Carter posted a double-double for Rio Grande, with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Celtics next host Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, December 6.
