CCU upsets Carlow in RSC women’s soccer quarterfinal

The Carlow University women’s soccer team was knocked out of the River States Conference Tournament by Cincinnati Christian on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Highmark Stadium.

The fifth-seeded Eagles upset the fourth-seeded Celtics, 1-0, in the quarterfinals. Carlow had won the regular-season matchup, 2-1.

Maddie Rench scored the game-winner in the 26th minute, assisted by Stephanie Reece. CCU goalkeeper Kendra Steepe made eight saves in the shutout.

Carlow goalkeeper Lexie Mirenda made nine saves.

The Celtics wrapped up their season with a record of 5-8-2, and an RSC record of 4-5.

The Eagles (10-7-1) advance to face top-seeded Ohio Christian on November 9.
