Stille, Simpson too strong for Shock

The Carlow women’s basketball team moved its record to 2-0 on Saturday, Nov. 12 with a 50-43 win over Washington Adventist University (Md.).

The Celtics (2-0/0-0 RSC) got standout performances from forwards Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) and Sami Simpson (SO/Bethel Park, Pa.). Stille posted her first career double-double, dominating the paint with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Simpson added 16 points.

Leah Goodwin (SO/Cincinnati, Ohio) led with the Carlow with five assists and four steals, to go with six rebounds.

The Celtics had another strong defensive performance, holding the Shock (0-6) to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters and 26.7% shooting overall.

Carlow next plays Wednesday, at Community College of Allegheny County.
