Staff Spotlights: Jo Danhires and Ben Davis

Get to know two of our staff members.

Jo Danhires, from Admissions

In an effort to get to know one another, the Staff Council will be inviting staff members to share a little bit about themselves. Each month two staff members will be randomly selected to be featured in the "Staff Spotlight".

Jo Danhires

1) What do you do at Carlow?
I am the Executive Assistant for the Admissions Department and the College in High School Coordinator.

2) What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at Carlow?
Spending time with my three grandchildren, 19 month old twins, Rorianne & Reagan and 8 month old Tristan.

3) What is your favorite season and why?
Autumn – love the colors, warm days and cool evenings, perfect weather for outdoor activities and evening pit fires.

4) Tell us about your first best friend.
My first best friend was my sister Terry, at times she seemed to know me better than I knew myself. She scolded me when I needed scolding, and cheered me on in all my endeavors.

5) Who is the most interesting person you have ever had a conversation with? Can you tell us about it?
Most recently would be Carlow Alum, Loruchama Milis. An amazing woman who has experienced so much of life. I don’t think the words “I can’t” are in her vocabulary. No matter what twists or turns come into her life, she finds a way to accept and make positive actions. Her presence quietly attracts people without being pushy or aggressive. This quality of hers has bestowed many opportunities, not just for herself, but for her children and those she serves as a true humanitarian.

Ben Davis

1) What do you do at Carlow?
I am the Coordinator of Academic Advising, which entails helping new students register for their first semester of classes and assisting current students with scheduling options and other academic affairs. Additionally, I assign all students a faculty advisor upon matriculation.

2) What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at Carlow?
Watch sports, attempt to play golf, and hang out with my dog named Mason.

3) What is your favorite season and why?
Fall, because that’s when football starts.

4) What was the last movie you saw? Who was your favorite character?
I watched Happy Gilmore for approximately the 398th time. It’s still as good as the first time I saw it, and of course, my favorite character is Happy Gilmore, himself!

5) What is your all-time favorite food and who makes it?
Macaroni & Cheese made by Velveeta.
