On November 1 in a national selection show, the USCAA awarded the Carlow women’s volleyball team a bid to the 2016 USCAA Volleyball National Championships. This is the fifth consecutive year the Celtics have qualified for the tournament.
The Celtics are seeded 7th out of 10 teams, which are placed into two pools. The team will travel to Virginia Beach to compete in the 2016 Championships, beginning with the following pool-play matches:
Thursday, November 10
- 11:00 am vs. #2 Florida College
- 2:00 pm vs. #3 Alfred State
- 4:30 pm vs. #10 New Hampshire Technical Institute
Friday, November 11
- 1:00 pm vs. #6 Illinois Tech
Once pool play is finished, the teams are ranked accordingly and the top eight teams earn a spot in bracket play, which begins Friday, November 11. The tournament will conclude with the championship games, which will be held on Saturday, November 12. All matches will be played in the Virginia Beach Field House.
Carlow is ranked 10th in the USCAA in kills, with a total of 1,162 kills. Kristina Hudock (JR/Uniontown, Pa.), ranked 9th in the USCAA with 349 kills, paces the Celtics offensively. Hudock has also been named to the all-tournament team in each of the three tournaments the Celtics have played this season.
The Celtics finished the regular-season this past Saturday in a tri-match, falling short against IU East but dominating Ohio Christian. They finished regular-season play with an overall record of 11-24 and a 7-6 record against USCAA competition.
