Mirenda, Celtics shut out WVU Tech

Goalkeeper Lexie Mirenda (JR/Altoona, Pa.) and the Carlow defense shut out WVU Tech on Saturday, Oct. 22 and the Celtics (5-7-2/4-3/1-1) moved into fourth place in the River States Conference with one match to play.

Carlow earned a 3-0 win at Highmark Stadium and got goals from three Celtics. After a scoreless first half, Kristina Wallace (SO/Jeannette, Pa.) scored the game-winner in the 50th minute. Emily Hardek (SO/) and Emily Emge each added an insurance goal late in the second half.

Mirenda made seven saves in her second shutout of the season. She leads the RSC in saves, with 94 total saves and an average of 8.55 saves per game.

The Celtics finish regular-season play and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 29, against Point Park.
