Nicolaus nets game-winner for Celtics in OT

Dan Nicolaus (JR/Gainesville, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute and the Carlow men’s soccer team topped Washington Adventist University, 3-2, in overtime, on Thursday, Oct. 20.

A goal by Nai Mayen (JR/Syracuse, N.Y.), assisted by Zach Wagner (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the fifth minute gave the Celtics early control of the contest. Cameron Stablein (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored another Carlow goal on an assist by Mayen just after halftime.

But the Shock forced overtime with a goal by Abenezer Zewdie in the 71st minute and another by Kingsley Nwosu, assisted by Daniel Moreira.

Carlow goalkeeper Kosi Agbevor (JR/Brooklyn, N.Y.) made five saves. WAU goalkeeper Reid made six saves.

The Celtics next host No. 13 WVU Tech on Saturday, Oct. 22.
