Congratulations are in order for Dylan D'Alessio, a Mount Washington native and first-year student at Carlow University, for being selected as an Executive Scholar of The Pittsburgh Promise this past summer. D'Alessio has exhibited strong academic performance, commitment to his community, and a dedication to his education while in high school.
"I feel proud and accomplished to receive this honor because I worked hard through my four years of high school, and I was one out of forty-five kids that were picked from all the city schools. For it to pay off like this is very special to me," says D'Alessio.
As an Executive Scholar, D'Alessio has been paired with Highmark Corporation, a Pittsburgh Promise Executive Company that will provide him with professional development opportunities and career guidance during his college experience.
D'Alessio must remain a Pittsburgh Promise Scholar and use his scholarship toward his college education in order to be eligible for the Executive Scholar program. The funding that D'Alessio will receive from The Pittsburgh Promise will not be affected by his status as an Executive Scholar.
This fall, expect to see D'Alessio featured in a series of billboards in the Pittsburgh area with the other forty-four students that are a part of the 2016 Class of Executive Scholars.
The Pittsburgh Promise is committed to giving children that were a part of the Pittsburgh Public School system up to $30,000 that they can for college. More information is available at www.pittsburghpromise.org.
