Carlow volleyball team falls to Point Park

The Carlow University volleyball team dropped a River States Conference rivalry match to Point Park, on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Pioneers (14-13/10-1) blanked the Celtics, 3-0 (25-5, 26-24, 25-18) with an all-around effort.

Despite a slow start and a tough first set, the Celtics (8-21/2-9/6-6) fought back to take a 10-5 lead in the second set. The action went back-and-forth until the Pioneers edged out to a 26-24 win in the set, then went on to take the match.

Shiloh Simonson led Point Park with 10 digs and eight kills. The Pioneers controlled the net, as Nikki Inquartano had 6.5 blocks and Kirsten Burkes had 3.5. Emily Meng had 18 assists.

For Carlow, Kristina Hudock (JR/Uniontown, Pa.) had nine kills, Michaela Koran (SO/North Olmsted, Ohio) had 11 assists and eight digs, and Elizabeth Stadelman (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 2.5 blocks.

The Celtics next host Penn State Beaver on Thursday, Oct. 20.
