Celtics win first RSC women’s soccer match

The Carlow women’s soccer team netted its first River States Conference win of the season, Thursday, Sept. 29. The Celtics defeated CCU, 2-1, at Highmark Stadium.

Emily Emge (SO/Beaver Falls, PA) gave Carlow a 1-0 lead at halftime, with a goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by Kristina Wallace (SO/Jeannette, PA).

Corinne Windisch scored CCU’s goal, assisted by Sarah Rall, but Wallace scored the game-winner for Carlow (2-4-2/1-0/0-1) in the 56th minute.

Lexie Mirenda (JR/Altoona, PA) made 10 saves for Carlow and Kendra Steepe made 10 saves for CCU.

The teams were evenly matched in possession and shots, with Carlow taking 20 and CCU taking 19. Carlow earned nine corner kicks to CCU’s two.

The Celtics next host Asbury, on Saturday, Oct. 1.
