Carlow volleyball team goes 2-2 at USCAA Battlefield Classic

The Carlow University volleyball team went 2-2 in the USCAA Battlefield Classic, in Berea, Ky., on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24.

The Celtics defeated Berea College, 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-12, 16-25, 15-13) and University of Cincinnati Clermont, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-20).

They lost to Florida National University, 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-17), and St. Mary of the Woods College, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 21-25, 25-19).

The Celtics were led by Bri Hoodlebrink (FR/Pemberville, OH) in the win against Berea. Hoodlebrink had a double-double, with 12 kills and 11 digs. Kristina Hudock (JR/Uniontown, PA) had 13 kills and five serving aces. Kassidy Dickson (SO/Cochranton, PA) added 11 kills. Michaela Koran (SO, North Olmsted, OH) had 34 assists and 12 digs. Mandy Toman (SO/Beulah, CO) had 16 digs and Mia Marmion (JR/Upper St. Clair, PA) had 13.

Against Cincinnati Clermont, Hudock and Dickson had nine kills apiece, Koran had 28 assists, Hoodlebrink had 11 digs and Marmion had 10 digs.

In the match against Florida National, Hudock had nine kills, Koran had 22 assists and Toman had 11 digs.

Hudock had 13 kills against St. Mary of the Woods, and Hoodlebrink added 12 with her 12 digs. Koran had 37 assists and Marmion had 17 digs.

The Celtics next host WVU Tech, on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
