The Carlow University volleyball team lost to the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-21), on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The RedStorm had defeated Carlow, 3-0, three days previously in a quad match at Rio Grande. The third set of Tuesday’s match was the Celtics’ best showing against the RedStorm. The set was tied at 21 before Rio Grande scored the final four points to win.
Rio Grande senior Kayla Briley became the school’s all-time leader in assists during the second set. Briley recorded 36 assists in the match. Autum Snider led the RedStorm with 11 kills and 4.5 blocks and Chandler Brown had 16 digs.
Kristina Hudock (JR/Uniontown, PA) and Kassidy Dickson (SO/Cochranton, PA) led Carlow with six kills apiece. Michaela Koran (SO/North Olmsted, OH) had five assists, Mandy Toman (SO/Beulah, CO) had four serving aces, Mia Marmion (JR/Upper St. Clair, PA) had seven digs and Elizabeth Stadelman (JR/Pittsburgh, PA) had 2.5 blocks.
The Celtics next play Cincinnati Christian on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Point Park University.
