The Carlow University volleyball team earned its first River States Conference win Tuesday, Sept. 27, against West Virginia Tech (11-9).
The Celtics (7-14/1-3/6-5) won a thriller, 3-2 (25-16, 13-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-13).
"We executed really well in the first and third set, being in system with our offense," Carlow head coach Julie Gaul said. "This is a great conference and USCAA win for us."
Kristina Hudock (JR/Uniontown, PA) led all players in kills, with 14, including the game winner in the back-and-forth fifth set.
"I liked our confidence at the end of the fifth set," Gaul said. "We stayed aggressive and went for the win."
Bri Hoodlebrink (FR/Pemberville, OH) posted a double-double, with 11 kills and 11 digs. Kassidy Dickson (SO/Cochranton, PA) contributed 10 kills.
Mia Marmion (JR/Upper St. Clair, PA) had 13 digs and Michaela Koran (SO/North Olmsted, OH) had 33 assists. Ashlyn Whitmore (FR/Memphis, TN) had five blocks with her four kills.
The Celtics next host Chatham University, on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7pm.
