Carlow improves by 80 strokes in second women’s golf showing

Natalie Abt led the Carlow University women’s golf team in its second outing, at the Penn State New Kensington Invitational, on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Abt had the lowest score of the event, shooting a 78 on the par-72, 4,920-yard course at the Links at Spring Church.

Hailey Schleich shot 86 to finish third, Samantha Stefanik shot 97 and finished fourth, Leah O’Kresik shot 101 and finished 5th, Lexie Mirenda shot 113 and finished 7th and Blake Sirko shot 132 and finished 8th.

No full teams except the Celtics competed on the women’s portion of the invitational. Carlow scored 362 as a team.

“The women's team had an 80 stroke improvement from the last match at Grove City,” Carlow head coach Ryan Shank said. “All of the ladies performed well and should be proud of themselves.”
