Celtics earn first-ever men’s soccer win

The Carlow University men’s soccer team earned the first win in program history Thursday, Sept. 15. The Celtics defeated Penn State New Kensington, 2-0, at Seton-LaSalle High School.

Nai Mayen (JR/Syracuse, NY) scored the program’s first goal, on an assist by Dan Nicolaus (JR/Gainesville, FL), in the 44th minute.

“It was beautiful,” Mayen said. “This was definitely a team effort. I’ll remember this forever.”

Dinesh Nepal (SO/Pittsburgh, PA) added the second goal in the 79th minute, assisted by Zach Talley (JR/Pittsburgh, PA).

Kosi Agbevor (JR/Brooklyn, NY) earned the shutout in goal, with six saves.

Carlow took 17 shots, while PSU New Kensington took 10.

Carlow next plays at Villa Maria College, on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 4pm. PSU New Kensington hosts PSU Hazleton on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 2pm.
