Carlow University Theatre Presents Michael Green’s Comedy, “The Coarse Actor’s Show”

Collection of Short, Theatre-Gone-Wrong, Comic Masterpieces on Stage Beginning March 20

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University Theatre (CUT) will present Michael Green’s collection of short, comic masterpieces, The Coarse Actor’s Show, on March 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 in the Rosemary Heyl Theatre in Antonian Hall on the Carlow campus.  Performances are at 8 p.m. each evening.

Working under the Murphy’s Law of theatre, what can go wrong will inevitably go wrong on stage.  Everything from faulty costumes to missed entrances, unfortunate sound cues to even more unfortunate line gaffes, and dangerous sets to curious directorial choices will all happen on stage at some point during the performance.  But as each unexpected disaster occurs, the cast soldiers on, makes the best of each situation, and believes till the end that “the audience didn’t notice a thing!”

The evening is comprised of an ambitious adaptation of Moby Dick, an avant-garde piece titled, Last Call for Breakfast, the Shakespearean send-up, Julius & Cleopatra, the Chekovian romp, The Cherry Sisters, the murder mystery, Streuth, and the provocative short opera, Il Fornicazione.

The Coarse Actor’s Show will be directed by Jay Keenan, a former Duquesne University professor of English and theatre and veteran of many local stage productions.   The show will be produced by Steve Fatla, the managing director of Carlow University’s theatre department.

Tickets are $10, $7 for seniors and students.  The reservation line is (412) 578-2095.
