Carlow University invites applications for the position of
Network Services Administrator. The Network Services
Administrator has responsibility for network security, firewalls
and routers, network and server support, both from a physical and
In conjunction with other team members, this position is
critical to the strategic success in providing optimal operations
and security of the network and server resources in alignment with
business needs and the University's goals. The incumbent
provides design and ongoing support for network services, including
ISP connectivity, wired and wireless LAN, server management
(including OS patches and backup/recovery), and physical technology
services (such as video camera and door access) systems.
- Manage network
and telecomm connectivity, including uptime and throughput on WAN
- Manage server
farm, including OS patching, system upgrades, physical and virtual
hardware, backup & recovery functions

The intent of this list of primary duties is to provide a
representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of
this job. Incumbents perform other related duties assigned.
Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon
three years in network and systems support:
- Three years technical knowledge and experience in network,
telecomm and server monitoring, maintenance and upgrade
- One year implementing and/or supporting a virtualized
- One year supporting backup and recovery operations, including
proven validation of DR methods
- Required: An
Associate's Degree in a technology-related field such as Computer
Science or Information Science, or comparative work experience
relevant & current certifications (or near completion) in any
combination of: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), MCSE
(Microsoft Certified System Engineer), and/or MCSA (Microsoft
Certified System Administrator)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong
organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to relate and communicate in a positive way to the many
constituencies of the University.

improve business efficiency
While this position is generally a Monday-Friday full-time
responsibility at the Oakland campus, flexibility options exist
that would enable an optimal and productive environment which meets
the needs of both the incumbent and Carlow University.
Occasional travel to satellite centers will be required to provide
support and network maintenance. Night/weekend work will be
required during critical periods such as network service
interruptions, system issues and upgrades.
