Project Coordinator

Description:

Carlow University invites applications for the position of Project Coordinator in the Division of Information Technology.  The Project Coordinator has responsibility for coordination, scheduling, communication, tracking, testing, maintaining quality standards and implementation oversight of technology and business improvement initiatives across the enterprise.  This position will also lead the requirements and review process for new technology solutions. 

In conjunction with other team members, this position is critical to the strategic success in providing optimal implementations and ongoing operations of technology and operational services in alignment with business needs and the University's goals. 

Essential Functions:

  • Managing implementation of new initiatives, including requirements, process definition, evaluation, scoping, design, configuration oversight, testing, training, communications, activation, and post-install review
  • Scheduling and tracking of application upgrades and patching, ensuring that software is kept up-to-date
  • Oversight of network and system upgrade and maintenance to ensure up-time and reliability
  • Communications with key stakeholders regarding technology upgrades, plans, processes
  • Develop training curriculum materials and deliver training with stakeholders on effective use of services
  • Participate in research, analysis, proposals and implementations of solutions to improve business processes and functions
  • Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of two years in project management capacity, including the development and execution of communications plans
  • Minimum of one year of testing, training, quality assurance
  • Preferred: experience developing testing procedures and protocols

Qualifications:

  • Required: An Associate's Degree in a technology-related field such as Computer Science or Information Science, or comparative work experience.
  • Required: Excellent organizational, process-orientation and time-tracking skills
  • Required: Excellent business process understanding including ability to diagram a process and provide improvements to methods
  • Required: Ability to collaboratively work with diverse groups of individuals in managing projects to successful and timely completion
  • Preferred: Project Management certification, such as PMP or current relevant certification.
  • Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Required: Ability to relate and communicate in a positive way to the many constituencies of the University.

Performance Metrics, per fiscal year

  1. Successful oversight and management of three technology project implementations.
  2. Implementation of one creative technological tool or service that aligns with the core strategic goals of the University.
  3. Key engagement in development of one process or protocol to improve business efficiency.

Work schedule

While this position is generally a Monday-Friday full-time responsibility at the Oakland campus, flexibility options exist that would enable an optimal and productive environment which meets the needs of both the incumbent and Carlow University.  Night/weekend work will be required during critical periods such as project implementations, system issues and upgrades.
